Wednesday February 21, 2018: Two-Mile Bar Tunnel Project

Presentation by: Kyle White, P.G., Associate Tunnel Geologist, Condor Earth

Presentation Synopsis:

Kyle White from Condor Earth will be giving a presentation on the construction progress of the Oakdale Irrigation District (OID) Two-Mile Bar Tunnel Project. The project consists of a ca. 6,000-foot-long, shotcrete-lined water conveyance tunnel that will serve to bypass a segment of the OID South Main Canal outside of Knights Ferry, CA. Tunnel excavation is roughly 30% completed, and several differing site conditions have been encountered. The presentation will discuss the differing site conditions as well as the process of documenting the differing conditions and resulting compensation to the contractor. Kyle is the assistant Resident Engineer and primary on-site representative for OID on the project, providing engineering oversight and construction management services on behalf of Condor Earth.

Speaker Bio:

Kyle White is an engineering geologist with 4 years of experience in underground design and construction work. He worked as a consultant to the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power on several large-scale water conveyance tunnel projects in southern CA prior to joining Condor Earth prior to the start of the Two-Mile Bar Tunnel Project in 2017. He graduated with a B.S. in Geological Sciences from UC-Santa Barbara and an M.S. in Geology from the University of Tennessee.
