Main Functions

  • Develop geologic hazard assessments, manage risks and perform site-investigations in difficult terrains, handling complex field logistics.
  • Perform preliminary field geologic mapping, fault studies, hillside developments, and sampling/ logging of exploratory borings and trenches.
  • Preparation of geologic maps, cross-sections, proposals, cost estimates, geologic reports, and drafting for geotechnical projects report writing.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate field and laboratory testing.
  • Characterization of geologic units, subsurface stratigraphy, groundwater conditions and geologic processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Geology required (MS degree preferred in Geology or equivalent).
  • 8+ years of experience managing public works, commercial and residential land development and construction projects.
  • Licensed Registration as a Geologist (PG) and certification as an Engineering Geologist (CEG) required.
  • Downhole Logging Experience and project experience in Southern California.
  • Strong technical abilities, written and oral communication, leadership, and business skills.
  • Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used for geological analyses.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Fieldwork and observation related to concrete and masonry construction operations.
  • Sampling, field testing, and special inspection of concrete and masonry, as well as related components such as reinforcing steel, epoxy bolts and anchors, etc.

  4. Working knowledge of construction costs and methods, and bid principles.
