Gregg Drilling Field Day Training ExpoRegistration is now open for Gregg Drilling's field training expo providing 4-hours of professional development training for field staff and technicians. The event will be outdoors and feature live and hands-on demonstrations with all types of drilling and sampling equipment. Attendees will be split into four groups and rotate through stations featuring different site investigation techniques and equipment. Featured Instructors:Dr. Peter Robertson, Professor Emeritus, University of Alberta Peter has over 30 years experience as an educator, researcher, consultant and practitioner specializing is in the areas of in-situ testing of soils, earthquake design of geotechnical structures, soil liquefaction, pile design and soil structure interaction. Dr. Robertson is recognized as an expert both nationally and internationally in the areas of in situ testing and soil liquefaction. He was the Principal Investigator of the Canadian Liquefaction Experiment (CANLEX) from 1993 to 2000, a $2 million collaborative project between industry, universities, and consulting engineers to study the characterization of sand for liquefaction analysis. Dr. Robertson has been a consultant to various industrial clients and insurance companies in North America, Asia and Europe for projects involving liquefaction evaluation for major structures, stability of onshore and offshore structures, landslides, stability of natural slopes and tailings dams, deep foundations and use and interpretation of in-situ tests. Dr. Richard Laton, Associate Professor, Cal State Fullerton & President of Earth Forensics Dr. Laton is an expert in the field of hydrology and hydrogeology. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences, Cal State University Fullerton. This is a continuation of a career that includes years of teaching, consulting, litigation support and management experience. Dr. Laton possesses extensive knowledge in the areas of hydrogeology, soil and water contamination, hydrology and surface water, wetlands, coastal monitoring/geomorphology, field sampling techniques, well hydraulics, as well as environmental remote sensing/GIS. His classes at the university encompass such topics as: water quality, environmental sampling, groundwater modeling, well hydraulics, oceanography, and basic geology. Dr. Laton consults for a variety of private companies and public agencies that need input on the above subjects in addition to natural hazard assessment and mapping. The program is designed for both geotechnical and environmental field personnel to become more familiar with the field equipment, its advantages and conditions for best use.
