The ASCE OC Geo-Institute invites you to attend our upcoming online Seminar. This seminar will focus on the following topics:

    Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring – Current Trends, by Paul Thurlow

    Fiber Optic Sensing Applications for Deformation and Leakage Monitoring , by Polly Brown

The presenters bio are as follows:

Mr. Paul Thurlow has 38 years of practical experience in all aspects of geotechnical engineering as a contractor from across the world. He has always had a passion for using instrumentation to safely deliver & value engineer projects. He has published papers on a variety of geotechnical/instrumentation subjects as well as contributing to national standards. Paul is Vice President of Geo Instruments (a Keller company ) based in California.

Ms. Polly Brown is the Southern U.S. Business Development Manager for Roctest, based near Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science and worked for a year in a small oil and gas exploration firm, before earning a Master’s degree in Geology from Boston University. After graduate school, Polly practiced hydrogeology as the staff hydrogeologist for the Wellhead Protection Program at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Quality Engineering, serving as the technical liaison between consultants performing hydrologic investigations and municipal water authorities defining the drainage areas for municipal wells. After raising a family and owning a small clothing boutique, Polly joined Roctest to provide direct consultation services for various geotechnical and structural projects requiring conventional and fiber optic instrumentation solutions.
