  7. Utilizes, reviews, and keeps up to date technical expertise and knowledge to commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures, and code requirements.
  8. Creates and maintains spreadsheet tools for data analysis.
  9. Attends and participates in professional meetings (SEAOC, ACI, DFI, CAL-GEO, SFGI).
  10. Takes initiative to learn software programs.

Required Education/Training:

  1. B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  2. PE License.
  3. Class C driver’s license.
  4. 4-6 years in engineering field or in a related area.

Desired Education/Training:

  1. SE or GE License.

Job Description: Ninyo and Moore has an immediate opening for a Project Geotechnical Engineer in Irvine, CA. The successful candidate will manage geotechnical, forensic, and construction projects, including meeting and interacting with the client, and managing budgets. Full-Time Soil Laboratory Technician BURBANK, California

Geocon is looking for a soils laboratory technician for our Burbank office. Candidate should have a strong work ethic, work well with others, have basic math aptitude, clean driving record, and good communication skills.

Soils laboratory technician will work at our in-house lab, running standard geotechnical tests on soil samples collected from jobsites. Familiarity and/or experience in ASTM soil and material laboratory tests is preferred but not required. Typical functions include capping and breaking concrete cylinders, performing compaction, expansion, and gradation testing. Knowledge of and/or experience in the geotechnical industry is a plus.

Experience / Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with soil and materials samples.
  • Valid California drivers’ license, current DMV printout, and vehicle for use to travel to various sites for sample pick up.
  • Must be able to pass a physical and routine drug tests.

  • You will work in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering, requiring experience and training in those areas as a geologist
  • Logging and sample collection during boring, fault trenching, test pit excavation, well installation, data collection from laboratory analysis, aerial photograph review.
  • Occasional construction observation of grading, foundation installation, remediation for potential areas of contamination
  • Interpret and correlate geologic and laboratory data, prepares cross-sections and maps
  • Coordinate drilling, well installation, trench excavation subcontractor, remediation contractor

Requirements/Qualifiers:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field
  • GIT preferred

  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certified a plus
