Essential Functions:

  1. Prepares and reviews submittals and construction documents.  Performs designs, calculations, submittals, load test letters, RFI responses, and plan check responses including contract documents and general engineering correspondence.  Reviews final submittals with stamping engineer.
  2. Manages projects start to finish with minimal oversight or direction within bid budget and scheduling restraints.
  3. Performs structural load takeoffs, mat design analysis, pile design analysis, and foundation concrete calculations. Perform geotechnical strength, settlement, and capacity calculations. Performs occasional AutoCAD drafting for design and analysis.
  4. Oversees, prepares, and can perform Quality Control (“QC”) documentation at job sites.
  5. Performs load test monitoring, post processing, and reporting.
  6. Assists PMs on deep foundation, ground improvement, and shoring projects.
  7. Utilizes, reviews, and keeps up to date technical expertise and knowledge to commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures, and code requirements.
  8. Creates and maintains spreadsheet tools for data analysis.
  9. Attends and participates in professional meetings (SEAOC, ACI, DFI, CAL-GEO, SFGI).
  10. Takes initiative to learn software programs.

Required Education/Training:

  1. B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  2. PE License.
  3. Class C driver’s license.
  4. 4-6 years in engineering field or in a related area.

Desired Education/Training:

  1. SE or GE License.
  2. OSHA 10-hour Safety Certification.  

Required Skills:

  2. 5 years estimating experience with shoring and foundations.
  3. Experience with reading and interpreting specifications and drawings, contract plans, geotechnical reports, shoring plans and site plan layouts.
  4. Working knowledge of construction costs and methods, and bid principles.
  5. Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).  AutoCAD a plus.

Job Description: Ninyo and Moore has an immediate opening for a Project Geotechnical Engineer in Irvine, CA. The successful candidate will manage geotechnical, forensic, and construction projects, including meeting and interacting with the client, and managing budgets. The Project Engineer will also coordinate and participate in field activities, including logging of borings, test pits, trenches and cores; evaluation of geologic and seismic hazards; forensic evaluation of distressed structures and failed slopes; perform liquefaction, slope stability, and settlement analyses; and prepare geotechnical engineering proposals and reports. Experience with construction and grading activities is strongly desired. Duties of the Project Engineer will also include providing technical support to staff-level engineers, geologists and field technicians.

The Civil Geotechnical Engineer will act as a key member of the global civil engineering team, engaged in analysis, design review, construction observation, and analysis of structural failures of wind and solar energy systems. The engineer in this position will have a highly visible role and be involved in several wind and solar energy projects worldwide, and have a key role in setting geotechnical standards of practice in the renewable energy industry.

  • Review of design drawings and calculations for Wind and Solar Energy foundations support systems, to support project financing.

Position Qualifications
